Farewell dear friend, Mr. Farouk Khan
4th July, 2016.
We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of Mr. Farouk Khan who died in a road accident in Piarco, yesterday afternoon. We express our deepest sympathies to Farouk's family and friends as we all mourn his passing. His love, dedication and service to our Association and the Parang art form is immeasurable.
He served as one of our Masters of ceremony on numerous occasions over the years with his inimitable style and voice which added to the excitement at those events. His close ties with the Carib community of Arima and the Venezuelan embassy provided an important link between those bodies and the Association.
Also, Farouk was one of the key committee members of the Lopinot Action Committee who, with the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, resuscitated the Cruz de Mayo celebrations in our nation, 5 years ago. He always wanted a closer cultural exchange program between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.
Farouk Khan always persisted that a holistic and multifaceted preview of Parang is presented; particularly, agricultural, societal, archeological, anthropological and its economic viability.
We will surely miss our passionate, patriotic, hardworking friend, Honorary Member, Mr. Farouk Khan.
May his soul rest in eternal peace and joy.
¡Viva la parranda!
